Title VI Notification

The Greater Portland Transit District (METRO) Title VI notification is as follows:

Your Rights Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

"No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

2022 Title VI Program Update:

Every three years, transit agencies are required to update and submit their Title VI Program to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

Metro's most recent Title VI Program was submitted to the FTA in April 2019.

The 2022 Draft Title VI Program can be found hereThis document will incorporate public feedback and Ridership Metro Board suggestions before being finalized. 

The updated Title VI Program for 2022 must be reviewed and approved by the Metro Board of Directors prior to the submission date of April 30, 2022.

  • January 20, 2022:  Ridership Committee -  4PM
    Overview of Title VI Program

  • February 17, 2022:  Ridership Committee  - 4PM
    First review of Title VI Program in draft for review and discussion.
    Public and committee feedback  welcome
    Agenda and link to meeting (includes draft of 2022 Title VI Program)
    Interpreters available upon request.  (Please provide at least five days notice.)

  • March 8, 2022:   Public Meeting - 6:30 - 7:30 PM
    Review of Title VI Program

Verbal Complaint

In the case where a complainant is unable or incapable of providing a written statement, a verbal complaint of discrimination may be made to the Transportation Manager. Under these circumstances, the complainant will be interviewed, and the Transportation Manager will assist the complainant in converting the verbal allegations into writing.

To find out more about METRO's non-discrimination procedures or to file a complaint, please call 207-774-0351. Members of the public who believe they have been the subject of discrimination can file a written and signed complaint up to 180 days from the date of the alleged discrimination.

Any individual, group of individuals or entity that believes it has been subjected to discrimination prohibited under Title VI may file a complaint by completing the METRO complaint form. Your complaint must be signed and dated.
