Pay: $19.79 – $21.63 per hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Shift Start: 8am Shift End: between 10am and 2pm

Weekly Hours: 10-15

Overview

The Cash Counting Assistant I/II provides support with tasks relating to the organizing and processing of fare box cash, in the form of bills and coins, for deposit. This work involves lifting, opening, and emptying fare boxes and lifting and replacing coin bags from the coin counting machine, as well as the application of basic cash handling knowledge and skills to perform related tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

Level I:

● Assist with processing fare box cash receipts by lifting, opening, and emptying fare boxes, sorting and counting bills and coins with designated counting machines.

● Loading and unloading fare boxes to and from cart.

● Operating the coin and bill counting machines.

● Responsible for sorting and assembling cash and identifying different denominations.

● Follow established cash handling and established money room procedures.

● Assist with preparing the deposit.

Level II

● All of the responsibilities of the Cash Counting Assistant I position, plus bring the deposit to the bank and complete the deposit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Level I: Cash handling experience, high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Level II: Meet qualifications for Level I in addition to having a valid State of Maine driver license with a satisfactory driving record.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must wear gloves (provided by GP Metro)
  • Ability to sit and stand for up to 3 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and transfer currency and coins in fare boxes or cash bags weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Good hand dexterity and visual acuity
