Greater Portland Metro is expanding again! We are currently hiring Non-CDL drivers to join our team.

Overview
As a Non-CDL Driver, you will provide safe and efficient rides to passengers across multiple communities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operates Metro vehicles shuttling employees and customers to their desired destinations.
  • Schedules pick-ups and drop-offs directly with employees and customers when requested.
  • Takes direction from the dispatcher about pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Reports maintenance issues related to Metro vehicles.
  • Uses on-vehicle technology to respond to customer calls for service.
  • Provides courteous passenger assistance as necessary and has a strong working knowledge of Metro schedules and connecting services.
  • Collects fares and properly classifies passenger rides.
  • Reports delays, breakdowns, and accidents using proper radio protocol; makes written reports of all accidents and incidents involving Metro vehicles.
  • Complies with all local traffic regulations.
  • Maintains appearance, behavioral and physical standards necessary to fulfill the agency’s essential mission.
  • Maintains friendly, professional and efficient manner in passenger relations.
  • Complies with all ADA regulations (wheelchair securement, deploying lift or ramp, assisting passengers, service animals, etc.).
  • Participates in safety and related training programs that are made available.
  • Understands and enforces all regulations and policies governing the Metro system.
  • Makes deliveries as needed.

Essential Aptitudes, Skills, and Abilities

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience working in transportation preferred.
  • Experience working in a customer-oriented profession.
  • Required ability to work independently.
  • High commitment to agency values and mission.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • 3 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to utilize mobile phone/tablet apps and basic systems.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Ability to drive in all-weather conditions and adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of region and transit systems is preferred.
  • At least 21 years of age.
